Jam Session - October, 2016

October 9, 2016

If you sing, play an instrument – guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, etc. – or just love music, you should make your way to the Negative Space Gallery on the second Saturday of each month. That's when the Gallery holds its monthly Jam Nights, and there is always a lot of good music provided by a lot of good musicians.

The October Jam Night - held on October 8 – was kicked off by Sean Seibert, a member of the Gallery’s board and the head of the gallery's performance arts committee. He opened the night by performing two original songs, "Party's Over" and "I Don’t Play Poker." He played guitar and sang both of those original songs. He was then joined onstage by drummer Jeff Loudermelt, and they did a cover of the Velvet Underground’s song "Nothing at All."

Seibert then switched to bass, and John Franklin began playing guitar. Franklin's 40th birthday was only a few days away, and his wife brought him and eight of his friends to the Gallery to celebrate his birthday. With Seibert on bass, Franklin on guitar and Loudermelt on drums, they played a few instrumental songs, then Franklin's wife brought out a birthday cake and offered slices of cake to everyone in the gallery.

After the cake, Bart Davidson came onstage to play bass, and Seibert took a break. The performed a few more instrumental songs, then another person came up and started playing keyboards with the musicians. All in all, it was another wonderful night at Negative Space!!!
